35th National Games Opening Ceremony on 31st January, 2015

National Games Secretariat (NGS) has announced Trivandrum International Stadium at Karyavattom as the venue for the opening ceremony of 35th National Games. The honorable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, is likely to be the chief guest of the opening ceremony on Jan 31. The dates for the biggest national sporting event were announced by the Indian Olympic Association president N Ramachandran in the presence of Union Minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs Sarbananda Sonowal at a colourful function in the Assembly complex, Trivandrum. Kerala is hosting the National Games for the second time after a long gap of 28 years. There will be a total of 11,641 participants, including 7,744 athletes taking part in the 35th National Games. Athletes will compete for 1,200 medals at 26 venues in seven districts in Kerala over a period of 15 days. There will be 365 gold medals, an equal number of silver medals and 477 bronze medals. This is going to be the first official event in the Trivandrum International Stadium.
